This review is long overdue, we went back in May however absolutely unreal sushi. I would say best in Charlotte. We only had a ten minute wait and our server was amazing. We will return ASAP!! It’s worth every penny.

Atmosphere is nice i love sitting at the bar, it’s a small a quaint restaurant with affordable dishes that won’t break your wallet. I love the Tropical Mojito & the variety of sushi rolls. My favorite appetizer is the Tiger Shrimp so flavorful. I have to stop by at least once a month for craving.

Fish was tasty and fresh. Everything came out promptly. I’ve never heard of them doing an automatic gratuity at this spot, I've been many times, especially for a small group of four. That’s my only concern/question why is was added for my visit this time! UPDATED REVIEW: Sick of the same story but same ole same ole. Black patrons receiving terrible service in hospitality driven places. Sat on the patio every other table received standard service, we were not checked on one time. No water in 97 degree weather, no table touch after we mentioned we would be ordering more food, had to physically get up and find our server after we asked for our bill 20 minutes prior (in those 20 minutes he closed out 2 other tables). This goes back to the initial part of my review, I’m assuming they added the gratuity because they thought we would not tip. And on this most recent visit I’m assuming we received poor service for the same reason. Do better!

Found Yamazura Sushi & Sake while looking for somewhere to sit in the sun in South End, and it delivered exactly what we were after. We didn’t have a US number to join the waitlist, but the staff handled it well. They told us to wait outside and offered to come find us when a table was ready. We grabbed a spot on a bench in the sun and, despite being quoted a 20 minute wait, they came out in about 5 minutes and seated us at an outdoor table. The place was busy with a great atmosphere, especially outside. It did take a bit of time to flag someone down to order and it wasn’t clear who our server was, but given how busy it was, it wasn’t a major issue. The drinks were excellent. The spicy margarita had a good kick and the yuzu citrus mocktail was fresh and well balanced. Food was the highlight. The tuna tataki was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and the edamame was simple but done well. The Crazy Horse roll was very fresh with a great mix of tuna, salmon and yellowtail, although the pieces were quite large and a bit delicate. This is my favorite sushi place in Charlotte. I have dined in here and we regularly DoorDash from here as well. The food is always good- my favorite is chicken lettuce wraps, very filling and healthy. Other things that we love from here are- miso soup, cream cheese dip, tako yaki, curry rice ball. Our favorite rolls are- gladiator, tarzan, philly roll, shrimp tempura roll. Only thing that I haven't liked from here is brussels sprouts, too crispy for me.
